Age-Friendly Community Planning Grant

The new Age-Friendly Community Planning Grant is supporting 56 projects over a period of two years for planning projects that will be completed by March 31, 2017.

Funding supports local governments and community organizations to undertake strategic planning with a focus on seniors as outlined in the Age-Friendly Community Planning Guide and lead to the development of local aging plans that will eventually be implemented, evaluated and improved upon.

What Kind of Projects Have been Funded?

Projects that result in planning, implementation and evaluation of activities that contribute to the creation and ongoing development of age-friendly communities.

  • $35,000 for medium-sized communities (between 20,000 to 99,999 residents)
  • $50,000 for larger communities (more than 100,000 residents).
